In celebration of World Chess Day (20 July), this month’s Maker of the Month challenges our young innovators to combine creativity, technology, and strategy through chess-inspired projects.
Students are invited to design and build unique models based on the world of chess using simple circuits, LEDs, or creative engineering ideas. From glowing chessboards to smart chess concepts, every project is an opportunity to showcase imagination, innovation, and problem-solving skills.

Last week’s Makers Lab session took students deeper into Microsoft MakeCode Arcade as they designed and built their own Platformer Game using block-based coding.
Students learned how to create platforms, control player movement, add obstacles, and design interactive gameplay while strengthening programming, logical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Another exciting Makers Lab session where coding, creativity, and imagination came together to create amazing games!
